Switches 4 Kidz

The Centre has developed an assessment service and loan library for adapted toys and switches for children from the Leeds area.

Toys e.g. tape recorders, musical toys, bubble machines, fans, remote control toys etc. can be adapted with a variety of switches and interfaces to enable many children to operate them even when they have very limited movement.

The toys encourage movements and by giving a learning experience would stimulate the child's development.  Thus by using the switch to operate a toy, the child receives a stimulus such as the sound or movement, and learns about cause and effect.  This is a major key to many aspects of development.
